Wilderness in Wildwood
It’s been quite the morning in nature so far- starting with a run with my Dad in quite different scenery than I’m used to (upper left). First run in two weeks and so far I’m good, just scary that the 10-miler is a week away and I haven’t done that distance in two!
Then we came home to the pups hanging out on the deck, listening to the birds in the trees and enjoying the sun. Sam is obviously soaking it all in. Summer Camp in the country 2012 begins!
Über cute portrait my sis made for me, one for each of my cities. Love! (Taken with instagram)
True story: it kind of makes me giddy to think these two are dating in real life. Uber cuteness. That’s all.
Weekend recap part 2:
After a mildly successful Saturday night at Louie’s pub celebrating another friends’ birthday, I awoke to a beautiful Sunday morning and took full advantage of it. Laura is always looking for a friend to ride bikes with and I had bought a groupon specifically for that purpose- with her time in Chicago dwindling, it was important to use!
Mind you, I have not been on a bike in probably two decades. It was terrifying at first but one pass down the lake path and I felt a little more confident. We stopped at the grill on the park for hotdogs and then made our way up to Montrose for drinks at the dock. Of course we stopped for photo ops along the way. Pretty perfect.
Later I got Sammy to the park to play with his buddies… T-minus four days till he heads to “Summer Camp” in Stl!
Weekend Part 1: Amazing birthday Friday, starting with an afternoon lunch at Rockit for my favorite turkey burger, chocolate covered strawberries from my parents and unbelievable weather.
Then that evening kicked off with dinner at Picolo Sogno, my new favorite restaurant. We had a great table outside on their patio (above, left) and the food was spectacular. My lovely friends had arranged a pink birthday cake that didn’t quite make it to the restaurant but the “28” sparklers did make it and made my day (above, right). As my dear friends know, I’m a firework fanatic and they were just perfect. Love all the girls who made it extra special… Apparently I surround myself with all brunettes!
The night was capped off with more drinks, only snafu was an almost missing cardigan incident, but overall it was quite successful! Thanks again to all of those who made it out!
Thanks to Passtheranch for the find! So funny!
